At Notebook, we believe your personal thoughts, academic research, and journal entries belong exclusively to you. We operate on a local-first philosophy: when you write notes, they are immediately stored locally in your browser’s IndexedDB. We do not inspect, sell, or monetize your writing.
When you use Notebook without an account, a resilient cryptographic hash is generated from basic browser hardware metrics (such as screen resolution and canvas traits) solely to remember your guest notebook session across browser restarts. No personally identifiable identity or GPS location is collected.
If you choose to link a Google account for cross-device access, we receive your name, email address, and avatar URL provided by Google OAuth. Any guest notes associated with your device fingerprint are automatically consolidated under your permanent user profile.
You maintain full control over your data. You may delete your notes at any time from within the application or clear your browser’s local storage. Stale inactive guest records that remain unvisited are periodically cleaned to keep our database lean.
